In northwestern Romania, the Lot 2A section of the Curtici-Simeria railway line is taking shape. The project, which promises to redefine rail transportation in the country, is part of the Pan-European Corridor IV, and the work will help boost transit speeds on the route to 160 kilometers per hour for freight and up to 120 kilometers per hour for passengers. The increased travel speed, along with updated safety standards, will also improve transportation capacity, with positive economic benefits as early as the construction phase.

The project involves the modernization of the existing railway line in the Curtici-Simeria section, Lot 2A, extending from Km 569+294 to Km 611+200. The track develops over a total length of 42 kilometers, 26 kilometers of which are variant track. Also part of the project are the modernization of a station in Radna and the construction of 3 new stations and 2 stops, as well as a building for maintenance activities. Also planned are two bridges to cross the Mures River, ranging from 370 meters to 420 meters in length, and 12 single span bridges.
